Patient has experienced IBS and heartburn/GERD for 10 years. Shoulder pain for 7 years. Recently had a baby and experiencing post pregnancy pain in the low back and neck. MRI confirms a herniated disc between 5th lumbar and sacrum. Also has bunion and buniette’s in both feet as well.
Neurology — The 6th Dorsal spinal nerves innervate the stomach organ. Nerve obstruction may lead to heartburn / GERD.
The 12th Dorsal spinal nerves innervate the small intestines. While IBS is more widely known to affect the large intestines, clinical experience has shown that improving nerve function to the small intestines may help with IBS.
The 5th lumbar spinal nerve innervate the large intestines. Nerve obstruction may contribute to IBS.
Structural test and Gonstead examination revealed structural abnormalities at the 5th Lumbar, 12th Dorsal, 6th Dorsal, and both talus in the feet. Correction of the 5th Lumbar and 12th Dorsal helped alleviate the hip pain, low back pain, herniated disc, and IBS symptoms. 6th Dorsal helped alleviate the heartburn / GERD symptoms, improved right shoulder function, and biomechanically made the neck more stable. The talus in both feet were corrected to improve the bunion and bunionette and provide further biomechanical stability to the pelvis. Future visits will involve correcting the rest of the structures in the feet.
