Patient came in for teeth grinding known as Bruxism. The grinding is at the worst when she wakes up from grinding during the night and also stress at work. Typically a structural abnormality at the first Cervical vertebra also known as the Atlas vertebra may cause TMJ issues.
While taking xrays, she felt dizzy and almost passed out due to positioning her body in a biomechanically leveled position. It resulted in torquing her spine more hence the dizzy sensation.
Thorough structural test and Gonstead examination revealed the only problem with her spine is her 5th Lumbar vertebra. There was no issues with her Atlas. Gonstead Chiropractors are trained to locate the true cause of the problem and correct that, rather than chasing pain and symptoms. Therefore, only her 5th Lumbar was corrected which helped alleviate her TMJ.
Her feet were evaluated and determined only the right foot had two structural abnormalities, the talus and her sesamoid which were corrected.
